Tom Knight - Engineering Manager
After a year of working in the engineering department at Fero, Tom was the obvious choice to take over as Engineering Manager when the position became vacant. Tom, who originally trained as a computer engineer, has extensive experience in avionics and av engineering.
The past year has provided Tom with valuable experience in a production environment both from a commercial and manufacturing angle. He has also learned a lot about the diverse requirements of New Zealand and Australian manufacturers for wire and electronic products. Tom and the engineering team will be focussed on developing systems that work across all departments in Fero to provide customers with outstanding wire and electronic solutions.
When he needs to unwind from a busy day at the coalface Tom relaxes with his favourite music.
Leigh Bucksey - Engineer
Leigh joined Fero in 2010 after running his own business for 11 years. After training as an automotive electrical engineer, Leigh completed an electrical apprenticeship. His love of racing cars took him into business of building race cars & motorsport wiring looms.
His experience in automotive wiring makes him the ideal engineer for specialty automotive electrical design.
Although his racing days are over he still enjoys participating from the arm chair. Leigh also enjoys photography, Scuba diving, hunting and running.
Mike Hodgkinson - Production Engineer
Mike moved to New Zealand from South Africa in 2009. Originally trained as a tool & die maker, Mike also became an instructor and lecturer in this field. Working at Stonestancore (an electrical manufacturer) Mike was the factory/production manager of their 120 strong factory.
As production engineer at Fero, Mike is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all the machinery. As well, Mike runs a small team who work in Fero's growing area of over molding and encapsulation.

When Mike is not watching rugby or running he enjoys a bit of quiet fishing.
Tim Tong - Electronics Field Engineer
Tim graduated from AUT at the end of 2007 with a degree in electronic and electrical engineering. He was keen to start working in a commercial environment and initially joined the Fero team in a sales support role. Tim has quickly adapted to his role and is providing valuable backup to our account managers as a field engineer.
Tim's family immigrated to New Zealand 10 years ago following the political changes to their home country - Hong Kong. Tim's father felt there was too much uncertainty in Hong Kong and that New Zealand would be a great place to bring his family and raise his children.
Tim is now a father so his love of cars, motor sports and fishing has had to take second place to his beautiful little girl.
Edwin Narayan - Engineer
Ed has recently joined the Fero Engineering Team. He came to New Zealand in 2006 as an international student studying at MIT and graduated in 2008 with a Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering. During this time he worked selling electrical switch gears and light fittings.
After graduating, Ed worked 5 years as an electrical engineering technician, building control panels for mining machinery and automated systems. He also studied during this time and graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Engineering Technology and registered as an Electrical Service Technician.
When Ed is not working he enjoys watching rugby, playing soccer, fishing, swimming and volleyball. As a new father, he is enjoying spending time around home with his baby boy.
